10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Round Table 1: ‘The circular economy, a challenge for industrial sovereignty’ (in french)

In the current economic climate, industry is key to our sovereignty in reducing our dependencies and controlling France's carbon footprint. Making a genuine transition to a circular model is an opportunity to reduce our dependence on imports and reconcile ourselves with planetary boundaries. With 97% of textiles consumed in France now imported, how is the agile and innovative French textile industry challenging its production models to produce sustainably? How is it addressing the issue of sovereignty to secure access to materials and regain control of certain links in the chain? This round table explores the drivers of the circular economy for a revival of the textile industry, making better use of our resources, reducing pollution and waste production, safeguarding and reclaiming know-how such as yarn manufacturing, transforming materials from reuse, and recovering and recycling end-of-life products.

Speakers: Eric BOEL, NOUVELLES FIBRES TEXTILES Isabelle FERREIRA, IFTH Nadia   KOTBI, REGION AUVERGNE-RHONE-ALPES Anne LAMBERT, MASSEBEUF TEXTILES / Projet ORATEX Grégory POISAY, BOLDODUC

Hosted  by radio and television journalist Philippe Montanay

Wednesday,
October 15

10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Round Table 2: ‘Alternatives and opportunities for sustainable textile sourcing’ (in french)

When it comes to textile production, materials derived from fossil resources dominate, accounting for 67% of global production. The current challenge is therefore to innovate in order to replace these materials with alternatives that are less harmful to the environment. Certain natural materials, such as hemp or flax, recycled materials from pre-existing fossil fuels, and bio-based materials derived from biological sources such as plants, animals or micro-organisms now offer sustainable alternatives to traditional materials. Our speakers will endeavour to show how the textile industry is turning to more sustainable sourcing and meeting the challenges of developing these new sectors.

Speakers: Audrey KUHN, MEDIPLANT Margaux LAMOURELLE, AURA CHANVRE Christelle PERZ, UITH NORD / Pôle Fibres Naturelles UIT Pascal ROSSIGNOL, CLM / TRILAM Maude VULLIET, CETI

Hosted  by radio and television journalist Philippe Montanay

Friday,
October 17

10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Round Table 3: ‘Digitalisation: new opportunities to adapt to regulatory changes’ (in french)

In response to growing legislative pressure on sustainability and increasingly stringent requirements from major contractors, companies in the textile industry are now obliged to take a closer look at their traceability and production chains. Digitalisation appears to be essential in meeting the challenges of environmental labelling, resource efficiency, waste reduction and green chemistry, as well as innovation in materials and recycling techniques. This round table explores the role of data in the transformation of the textile industry and the challenges ahead.

Speakers: Carolynn BERNIER, CEA Delphine DROZ, LA BELLE EMPREINTE Nicolas ROHR, FAGUO David GAL-REGNIEZ, MINALOGIC Sylvain RIVOIRE, NEYRET

Hosted  by radio and television journalist Philippe Montanay

Keynote : Each round table will be introduced by a ‘carte blanche given to the International Centre for Resources and Innovation for Sustainable Development (CIRIDD)’, with Sébastien Béclin, an expert in supporting industrial sectors in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region on the circular economy.
